If we plan to play PSP games on our Android device using on-screen buttons, then we need to be comfortable with those buttons, whether it’s their size, opacity, etc. Right now, we’ll learn about that and much more.
We can set up controls in a general way (Same configuration for all games) or individually (For specific games). The latter option is the best, as if we play a racing game, we want it to have a unique control configuration, just like a different setup for a shooting game.
We can start by holding down our game, then press “Create Game Config.” Next from Game Settings → Controls → On-Screen Touch Controls (Enabled) → Edit Touchscreen.
Move: With this function, we can move the on-screen buttons. Where to move them? Well, it depends on the game you’re playing and where you feel most comfortable. For example, if L1 triggers a power but moving your finger to the original position feels uncomfortable, you can move it closer to your left or right hand.
Size: Not everyone has the same phone with the same screen size or hand size. With this function, we can increase the size of the buttons. This is beneficial for people who feel they can’t touch a button because it’s too small. By increasing its size, you gain more precision when tapping it.
Customize: Without a doubt, this is the most interesting and important section. With this function, we can add one or several buttons, each of which can be configured to perform a specific function. For example, we can add a button to emulate the square button or any other button.
But what’s truly intriguing is the ability to create combinations. You can assign a sequence of other buttons to these custom buttons. This is fantastic for games that require combos. For instance, you can add a button to simulate pressing Square+Up+R1, triggering a combo in the game when pressed.
We can also make the most of this feature by adding two on-screen buttons for “Save State” and “Load State“.
Note: Keep in mind that in many games, using “save states” can potentially disrupt the game by preventing it from saving to the game’s memory card. For this reason, you should use it with caution or with games for which you already have saved data.
Another precaution: Be careful with these buttons as they are on-screen; you might accidentally tap them and overwrite your previous state in a place where you shouldn’t. Therefore, we recommend saving the game not only with the configured buttons but also using the “save game” feature within the game itself.
