Play Diablo 1 on Your Android – Easy Guide

We can’t start this guide without first thanking diasurgical for creating this app and making it possible to run the game from Blizzard Entertainment. Well, with that said, let’s see how we can install and play Diablo 1 on our mobile device.

Can Diablo 1 be played on Android?

Previously, you could play this game on your smartphones, but it wasn’t very convenient, to say the least. However, thanks to the method I’ll show you today, you’ll be able to play more intuitively and with less hassle.

A quick answer is YES. Now let’s talk about DevilutionX, a port of Diablo 1 for various platforms, including Android and iOS. You can download the project from GitHub or Google Play, but it’s not a pirated version, so you’ll need CD or GoG version files. Detailed installation instructions can be found below.

Video to install and How to Play Diablo on Mobile

To do this, I need access to the android/data directory, which is being heavily restricted by newer versions of Android. So, if you have Android 13 or below, we’ll use one method. If that doesn’t work, and you also have Android 14, we’ll use the second method, which is more effective but involves more steps and is somewhat complex.

First, install DevilutionX and open it to create the necessary folders.

Method 1: Zarchiver

We’re going to download Zarchiver, either from Google Play or an APK. Then, we’ll move the data to the correct path.

Method 2: Zarchive & Shizuku

Watch this video; although it’s longer and a bit more difficult due to Android restrictions. From here, you can download the Shizuku. After finishing what’s shown in the video, come back and watch the first video to install the data for Diablo 1.

  1. Install the DevilutionX application.
  2. Locate the DIABDAT.MPQ file that you’ve already downloaded, either from above or from the original game CD, in the installation folder or using Innoextract.
  3. Connect your device to your computer and allow data access.
  4. Transfer the DIABDAT.MPQ file to your Android/data/org.diasurgical.devilutionx/files folder.
