Unlike our older siblings playing Stardew Valley on PC and consoles, where multiplayer is available through split-screen, LAN, or online, we’re here today to solve this and make it possible to play with our friends.
Is Stardew Valley Mobile Multiplayer?
The quick answer is YES, and it is thanks to the community that I created a Mod to make this happen and each person, friends can play from their cell phone.
What we need to play it multiplayer on Android
Since this feature is added through a mod, you’ll need to have Stardew Valley’s SMAPI installed. If you have no idea what that means, it’s essential to follow this brief guide first. Once you’ve completed it, come back here to continue.
Once that’s done, let’s go ahead and download the multiplayer mod:
Installation
Now comes the slightly more complicated part. If you’re using Android 11 or later and don’t have access to the Android/data folder due to Android’s restrictions, you can check this by using your file manager. If you don’t have access, you’ll need to follow this tutorial that I’ll provide.
Once you have access to the mentioned path, open your file manager or
Zarchiver from Google Play, and locate the downloaded file.
Press on it and select “Extract here.” Then, cut the two extracted folders and paste them into the following path: android/data/com.zane.stardewvalley/files/mods
How do you set it up to play multiplayer with my friend?
In theory, multiplayer is now installed. Open SMAPI Stardew Valley, and you’ll see the “Coop” option. There are two ways to play: one is with a friend who is on the same Wi-Fi network or hotspot, and the other is online over the internet.
We’ll show you how to do it on the same Wi-Fi network here. For online play, we’ll provide a video with a simple explanation. Let’s get started:
First step: Make sure both of you are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you don’t have Wi-Fi, share your connection via hotspot. If you’re the one creating the game, here’s what you need to do next:
Go to your device settings, then to Connections and Internet → WiFi. Select the name of the WiFi network that both you and your friend are connected to. Tap on it, choose “Advanced” or something similar, and scroll down to find the IP address. Copy this IP address, as you’ll need it later. Example: 192.168.1.300.
If you’re using a hotspot connection instead of WiFi, the person sharing the internet (the host) should create the game and copy their IP address just like we did before.
Step Two: Open SMAPI Stardew Valley and select “Co-op.” The person who will host the game should choose “Host,” create a new co-op profile, and start the game.
The second person should select “Join,” then “Join Multiplayer MOD,” and enter the IP address we copied earlier from the person who created the game.
Play Stardew Valley Online on Android
This is simple because we’ve already done the most important part. However, to play with friends over the internet, you’ll need a VPN like ZeroTier. That’s why I’m sharing this video where it’s explained. Also, you don’t need to install the multiplayer mod again, as we’ve already done that here. Just watch the part about ZeroTier and how to use it. If you have any questions or just want to say thanks, feel free to comment below.
